Are custom portraits good for home decoration?

Hi everyone! I’m redecorating my apartment and looking for ideas to make the walls feel more personal. I already have some prints and photos, but I’d like to add something more unique that represents my own memories or personality.
I’ve been thinking about ordering a portrait created from one of my favorite photos. I’ve seen examples of custom self portraits used as wall art, but I’m not sure how they look in real interior spaces. Do they actually work well as decoration or do they feel too personal for display?
